This last week I’ve been really practicing what I preach. I’ve been speaking up in spaces and situations that give me that lurching feeling in the gut. You know the one! It’s accompanied by sweaty palms and a very busy mind filled with stories that simply aren’t true and will have you running for cover if you give them airtime!



PRESSING PAUSE

In these situations you have a choice:

  • Be held captive by your false stories, or

  • Break free and prove that your gossiping mind had it wrong all along.


I’ve been using the ‘STOP technique’ to push through these moments with self-compassion and it’s been helping me feel grounded, present and confident.

I really, AND I MEAN REALLY, REALLY, recommend experimenting with this very simple yet powerful practice in moments when you notice that you feel:

  • Overwhelmed or anxious

  • Doubt yourself

  • Reactive or emotional.

The STOP Technique is a nervous system reset will help you step into your power as leader who is:

  • Present

  • Grounded

  • Confident

  • And, of course calm.

Taking time to pause and breathe in a conscious, deliberate way is also a great way to prepare yourself ahead of meetings and situations where you want to influence and inspire others, Your inner calm and clarity will shine through, helping others to feel seen, safe and empowered.
